POSITION SUMMARYAs part of the Imaging Services team, this position will provide operational and patient care support to the MRI Department and X-Ray department by assisting with MRI Scheduling, assisting the Imaging technologist and performing Radiology Support functions for preparation of exams for radiologist interpretation.

HOURS: Mon-Fri., 9:30 am - 6pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Performs radiology support duties which include imaging order entry, imaging request, retrieval and uploading in preparation for radiologist interpretation.2. Supports the MRI desk by assisting with patient check in, scheduling and end of the day tasks to include charge verification and patient reconciliation.3. Provides clerical support and assistance to the Imaging technologist as needed4. Assists the Imaging technologist with patient throughput by escorting patients to and from exam room, assisting with patient area and equipment cleaning standards per organizational protocol.5. Provides assistance to the imaging technologist with patient preparation, set up and positioning a needed to ensure a safe, quality patient experience.6. Conducts MRI pre-screening procedure for all MRI patients, schedules pre MRI x-rays and obtains information for clearance as needed following established department protocols.7. Maintains patient confidentiality according to state and federal and company regulations.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides coverage for staff on an as needed basis.

  • Assists patients that requires wheel chair, walker or crutches for mobility.

  • Attend meetings, as assigned, and participate in educational activities to keep skills up to date

  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times.

  • Is proactive in identifying, reporting and participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient safety issues

  • Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment

  • Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the department

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Medical Assistance Certificate or equivalent clinical training certification

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Previous experience in radiology with knowledge of Imaging procedures and safety-related issues desired

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the phone

  • Skill in time management with the ability to plan, organize and prioritize job duties

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally/ up to 10 pounds more frequently

  • Assist in transfer of patients including wheelchair to stretcher or stretcher to stretcher when needed

  • Walks frequently

  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time

  • Risk of exposure to hazardous conditions and blood borne pathogens

  • Occasional reaching, twisting, bending

  • Operation of various office equipment; fax machine, telephone & voice mail system, stationary/lap top computer, scanner, e-mail system, cell phone, pager, and copier
