About T&D:

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview:

The Design Resource Planning Performance Management Advisor works within the Planning Performance & Resource Management arm of Design Strategies & Performance (formerly Design Support). PP&RM is responsible for the Performance Management, Work Management and Resource Planning for the Distribution Design Organization. The team is responsible for effectively prioritizing strategy, production of work plans and KPI’s, and developing holistic resource planning.

The Design RPPM Advisor works to develop and support the long-term vision and strategic plan for Distribution Planning. This includes engaging with stakeholders throughout SCE to create strong work plans, Design Contractor mix strategies, and measurable targets to support the corporate goals such as Capital Execution.

Typical responsibilities:

  • Work Management: This position will be responsible for monitoring and assigning work flow for the planning organization, including all disciplines and contractors.

  • Receive Work: Work with Wildfire Program Management (WPM), Distribution Project Management (DPM), Pole Project Management (PPM), Engineering, Inspection groups (ODI, Aerial, Infrared, etc.) and other scope providing partners to track and allocate capital work inputs to Planning forecast at $2.5B annually and growing.

  • Identify Resources: Determine standard disciplines per work type, resource type, overflow work assignment and tracking, consistent review for level of design contractor usage, and movement of resources between locations/disciplines as needed to complete the work to plan. Expand utilization of tools to enable work process efficiencies, for example tablets, SharePoint and Current Kaizen efforts in progress to ensure timely work completion.

  • Monitor/Report: Report out on progress of work completion, contractor usage, any resource or work movement through SharePoint or otherwise, Plan to Actual reporting for all work types.

  • Collaborative Problem Solving. Work closely with Planning Leaders, RPPMs, District/Region leadership, Scoping and Project management groups and other critical stakeholders to resolve issues (process, labor, work management, etc.) and facilitate collaboration between work groups along IPSEC.

  • Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Seven or more years of performance management work management experience

  • Experience with or general knowledge of distribution planning.

Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Demonstrated knowledge of utilizing data (i.e. from SAP, DM) to support business processes,performance, metrics and forecasting resource needs

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate work across relevant areas and processes

  • Familiarity with SCE Distribution Design or Distribution Construction Activities

  • Experience with Contractor management and systems for contractor work tracking and billing

  • Demonstrated experience accurately analyzing resource plans and performance metrics and making recommendations on future staffing and performance solutions

  • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing medium to large projects, including identifying, maintaining, and/or adjusting the cost, scope, and resources, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance.

  • Demonstrated experience consulting with clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results.

  • Project Management Professional credential

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project.


  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • This position canbe located in Pomona PIV3, Valencia, Westminster or Wildomar.

  • The position will require 15% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
