Scientist II, Pleasanton, CA

Full time, 1 year contract role

Position Summary:

  • Operating Real Time PCR Instruments, various laboratory equipment, formulation equipment safely handling chemical materials.

  • Manual pipetting and serial dilutions.

  • Analyze data, interpret results, and perform manual calculations.

  • Effectively execute on manufacturing work orders.

  • Perform in-process quality assurance and quality control.

  • Maintain production records and adheres to ISO13485 guidelines.

  • Good Documentation Practices.

  • Plan the use of equipment, materials and own time.

  • Personnel shall: Communicate effectively with other production staff.

  • Make detailed observations and basic data analysis.

  • Address and report any problems in daily manufacturing and propose effective countermeasures.

  • Advise supervisor of factors that may affect quality, accuracy, timeliness and usefulness of data.

  • Troubleshoot experiments with no assistance from supervisor.

  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment.

  • Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures.

  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions required.

  • Operate with independence; personnel receives little instruction on routine work, some instruction on new assignments.

  • Interact cross functionally with manufacturing sciences, R D, and quality.

  • Provide training and guidance to junior team members.

  • Organize and prioritize work to ensure on-time delivery.


  • BS/MS in life science or equivalent.

  • 3-6 years lab experience.

  • Ability to work independently is crucial.

  • Great communicator

  • Computer familiarity required - especially with MS Office programs.

  • Ability to perform manual calculations for formulation, serial dilutions, etc Working Knowledge of basic statistics.

  • Strong hands-on laboratory skills in molecular biology and instrumentation

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
