Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. Senior Counsel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking an experienced attorney for the position of Senior Counsel to assist and facilitate the continued growth and expansion of our organization. The ideal candidate will have experience as either an outside lawyer or with an in-house law department for a large engineering, environmental consulting and/or construction management company. Senior Counsel will collaborate and work with our operations and technical teams to draft and negotiate client contracts and subcontracts for engineering, consulting, surveying and construction management services in addition to general legal advice and counseling.

As Senior Counsel for Civil & Environmental Consultants your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and negotiating client contracts and subcontracts for engineering, environmental consulting, surveying and construction management services.

  • Managing and balancing risk appropriately for the organization.

  • Advising the business on other legal issues including human resources.

  • Providing advice on compliance and corporate governance.

  • Managing insurance and licensing for the organization.

  • Training for the organization on risks and emerging legal issues.

  • Partnering strategically with internal clients.

  • Focus on supporting marketing and business development efforts.

  • Embracing and exemplifying CEC’s core values.

  • Taking ownership of client relationships and work.

  • Applying legal and business knowledge to proactively support growth and innovation.

  • Juris doctorate degree from accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • 10+ years of experience within a major law firm or legal department for a large engineering and construction company.

  • Experience negotiating and drafting engineering and services agreements and subcontracts.

  • Experience of other general areas of business law such as company and labor law.
