Summary:

Facebook Reality Labs is dedicated to the research and development required to bring virtual and augmented reality to billions of people around the world. At the Pittsburgh lab, we are working towards a vision of social VR and AR where people are able to interact with each other across distances in a way that is indistinguishable from in-person interactions. As a Research Engineer at FRL Pittsburgh, you will be solving challenges at the forefront of computer vision and machine learning. You will as a bridge between world-class researchers and engineers, collaborating together on the innovation necessary to make that vision a reality. You will be expected to engineer solutions to problems in computer vision, audio processing, and machine learning. We want people who work well across disciplines, are excited about getting research prototypes to really work, and are excited to work in new technology areas.

Required Skills:

  1. Develop new algorithms to reconstruct, track, and model human behavior

  2. Work alongside researchers and SW engineers to develop algorithms for reconstruction, detection, tracking, and representation of human shape, appearance, and motion

  3. Create baselines and evaluate performance of systems against them

  4. Develop real-time systems for analyzing human behavior

  5. Develop robust algorithms and systems for integrating multiple sensors and modalities

  6. Communicate research agenda, progress, and results

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 2+ years experience with C++

  2. 1+ years experience in Computer Vision and Machine Learning libraries

  3. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelors or Masters degree in a Computer Science, Computer Vision, Computer Engineering or related technical field

  4. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Firmware, Robotics, EE or ME- including but not limited to Linux and camera/sensors experience

  2. Experience developing software for computer vision, computer graphics, high performance computing, machine learning or robotics applications

  3. Experience with Python or other scripting languages
