Location : This position can sit in Pittsburgh, PA or Houston, TX

How you will make an impact:

The Product Management Specialist responsibilities include market and opportunity analysis, planning and commercial strategy development, and routine tactical execution of plans for selected HMD products within the Category portfolio. The Category portfolio that this PM Specialist will serve includes High Value Diagnostics, Specialty Diagnostics, Rapids. Laboratory Consumables and Safety products.

What you will do:

The PM Specialist will perform tasks to support all Product Managers within the Category in order to increase product sales. The tasks primarily include pricing, profitability analysis, and promotion in working with field sales. This PM Specialist will also provide support to Business Development in Key success metrics of this position are revenue growth, portfolio profitability and new product and supplier introductions. The Product Management Specialist will assist in the tactical execution of product strategies to accelerate the growth of the HealthCare Market Division (HMD).

  • Understands tactical aspects of revenue, market share, and margin targets

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, i.e. sets and meets deadlines

  • Superior organizational skills, i.e. provides timely responses to emails and voicemails

  • Competence in developing/managing supplier relationships and resolving supplier issues

  • Understands current and future market trends for implementation of program

  • Supports and works closely with Sales to identify and develop opportunities

  • Tactically executes marketing initiatives and promotional activities to increase sales

  • Submits form/s to obtain approval for Premium Pass programs

  • Develops and coordinates product communications

  • Uploads/audits information and helps to create resource pages on internal iConnect

  • Uploads intake forms via Marketing Communications portal

  • Analyzes media opportunities for marketing

  • Assists in negotiations with suppliers for purchase of media time/space

  • Works closely with vendor on marketing programs, i.e. retrieves content from suppliers

  • Assists and works to identify product line extensions

  • Maintains RAIL for Category Manager/Product Managers

  • Maintains cross-functional relationships with internal departments including; Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Purchasing, Marketing Communications, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Product Administration, and other Thermo Fisher Scientific divisions

  • Facilitates New Item creation for suppliers with ability to navigate Supplier Exchange

  • Detail-oriented in work deliverables to Product Managers

  • Develops and delivers effective presentations

  • Hosts All Field Sales Calls and specialized conferences for marketing initiatives

  • Builds dashboards and generates report data in/from Customer Resource Management tool, SFDC

How will you get here:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in science or business

Experience:

  • 1-2 Years sales experience in medical products, clinical diagnostics, or scientific products

  • Preferred familiarity with laboratory diagnostics products in the hospital setting and non-hospital labs - industry knowledge

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding of the diagnostics market, including trends and competition

  • Strong work ethic, leadership, motivation and interest in career development

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Creative, autonomous individual who can manage multiple priorities and work well with field sales

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office products)

  • Must be willing to travel 25-30% of the time

  • This position is based in Houston, TX or Pittsburgh, PA.
