Charles Schwab Sr. Lending Business Strategy Consultant in Phoenix, Arizona

Your Opportunity

Schwab Banking and Trust Services is responsible for creating and delivering deposit, trust and lending products and services to help drive revenue and deepen client relationships.

Reporting into the Managing Director, Business Strategy, the Senior Manager will be responsible for developing strategies and plans addressing the most critical challenges facing our lending business and setting the strategic direction for our lending products. The Senior Manager will work closely with internal and external partners to develop analysis, competitive intelligence, identify insights and key trends regarding lending product needs and usage by Schwab clients and act as an internal liaison for key internal and external partners on a variety of projects. This role offers the opportunity to build in-depth knowledge across Schwab Banking and Trust Services through immediate involvement in key initiatives.

What you’re good at

  • Work with internal partners and product owners on strategic organization for the lending team

  • Structure and lead analytics and strategy-development efforts to inform the Bank Lending product roadmap.

  • Deliver data focused insights and produce recommendations to support strategic direction and business prioritization

  • Perform regular and ad hoc quantitative and qualitative analyses across and within Bank Lending product teams, as required by specific projects

  • Develop presentations for senior leadership to socialize ideas, team strategies, results and programs

  • Lead client and field research to establish and refine fact base on client needs

  • Lead cross-product initiatives to increase efficiency and improve the client experience

  • Perform competitive analysis and evaluate industry trends

  • Identify and ensure tracking of key marks

  • Evaluate third party vendors & their ability to provide consistent, high quality client, FC, Advisor and rep experience per SLAs and Bank strategy

  • Find opportunities to enhance the end to end lending experience based on partner, client, rep and advisor feedback

What you have

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in banking and lending, mortgage, pledged asset lending, or strategy.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Superior communication skills (including PowerPoint), both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences

  • Ability to think strategically and to translate ideas and plans into actions and tactics

  • Exceptional analytical ability for gathering and interpreting complex data including a track record of operational improvement

  • Financial Services industry experience is preferred with banking or home lending background a plus.

  • Highly client focused with demonstrated leadership, relationship-building, collaboration, and sales skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to understand needs, develop recommendations, influence partners and move strategies forward.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams, work efficiently in a matrixed environment and synthesize diverse points of view into well-formulated recommendations and plans.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Ability to participate individually and to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Strong social awareness and understanding of how work style impacts other key partners.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to organize and handle several priorities and drive each to completion.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to gather data and use it to develop logical and well-conceived solutions.

  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.

  • Comfortable in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment with the ability to problem solve.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to varying levels across the organization and build strong partnerships.

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently, independently and with teams, to meet tight deadlines with minimal direct supervision

  • Results orientation and ability to take initiative and effectively distill strategy, analytics, and varied sets of input to aim to decisions and follow through to execution

  • Ability to frame issues and needs from the client's perspective; possess a natural bias to conceptualize solutions based on a keen understanding of client needs and client experience
