Position Description :

The Medical ICU at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is looking for a full time Nursing Assistant to join their team. The MICU at HUP has two locations within the hospital - Founders 9 and Donner 3. Our patient population consists of pre andpost liver and lung transplant, hematological and solid cancers, BMT, sepsis, and Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), as well as all medical ailments requiring world-class critical care interventions.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) work under the direct supervision of RNs and support numerous fast-paced, high volume areas of the hospitals and practices within UPHS by delivering high quality care to patients and families through collaboration and communicationwith his/her team. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: taking, recording and monitoring vital signs; lifting, turning and feeding patients; providing O2 therapy and reporting acute changes in ventilation and circulation; promoting infectioncontrol and safety by maintaining a clean and safe work and patient environment; meeting patients’ personal hygiene needs and assisting with ADLs; and making beds.

Minimum Requirements :

• HS Diploma or equivalent

• Graduate of a CNA program

• CPR required

• Must be a certified by the State of Pennsylvania as a CNA.

• In lieu of certification, must be a nursing student matriculated in an accredited BSN nursing program having minimally completed the nursing foundations/fundamentals clinical course with a 3.0 GPA overall and in the nursing major and continue to maintain a 3.0 GPA in all nursing major subjects.
