Reference #: 9241606PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Functions as Lead Lab/Generalist/Med Technologist at TJUH on 3rd shift. In this position, the Lead Lab Generalist/Med Technologist assumes additional responsibilities for overall lab operations as defined by the Lab Manager in addition to their responsibilities as Laboratory Generalist/Med Technologist. Lead Assists in daily supervision of shift personnel and workflow. Performs testing in all areas of lab according to established procedures and accepted practices. Works effectively with others to accomplish departmental and institutional goals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assists in daily supervision of staff and workflow of personnel on 3rd shiftEnsures specimens are acceptable to perform all testing in Hematology and Chemistry.Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.Assists in training of staffAttends mandatory in-services on annual basisComplies with Universal precautionsEnsures accuracy of tests and analysis performed and reportedMaintains competency in all Lab areasOperates all Laboratory diagnostic instrumentsParticipates in proficiency testing surveysParticipates in departments performance improvement programEnsures all specimens are acceptable according to standard operating proceduresQuality Control/QM: Prepares reagents necessary for testing and notes expiration datesRecognizes unexpected results and takes appropriate actionReports critical values in the defined thresholdRuns and records QC according to frequency defined by Supervisor ensuring they are within rangeAssists in other duties as assigned by supervisorDisposes of biohazard waste generated in Lab according to policyPrimary Responsibilities:Operate diagnostic analytical equipment to generate reliable and timely laboratory results to facilitate patient care managementEssential Functions:Perform laboratory analysis following documented procedures. Verify and report laboratory findings in a timely and accurate fashion. Follow all established regulations related to specimen processing, QC, lab safety, etc. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:BS in Medical Technology or equivalent.Able to meet criteria for Med Tech III Level as outlined in Clinical Laboratory career ladder guidelines. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:HEW or equivalent preferred.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:4 years laboratory experience.5-7 years experience preferred.Educational Requirements:Bachelors Medical TechnologyCertifications:MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT) or dept specializations for all certs, licenses and registration areaYears of experience:2 years of experience required0-5 years laboratory experience preferredJefferson Health delivers state of the art healthcare services to patients throughout the Delaware Valley and southern New Jersey.
