Comcast Construction Quality Manager in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Responsible for managing designs and construction of all activities in support of plant constructions, rebuilds and existing plant upgrades. Works closely with the leadership team to develop budgets and allocate appropriate funds for new builds, rebuilds, upgrades and other construction efforts. Provides management support for Design, Construction, Fiber Construction, Planned and Emergency Restoration, Utility Relations and Project Management. Has accountability for managing financial resources. Provides subject matter guidance to employees. Has overall responsibility for developing/administering performance standards for organizational unit. Manages team which may include exempt and non-exempt employees. Provides subject matter guidance to employees as required. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies, assist in development and meeting of, departmental budget.

Job Description

Job Overview:

The role of the Construction Quality Manager is to monitor the quality of construction across all projects and work to find defects, understand the causes of defects, and provide solutions to deflect future problems. They oversee the implementation of the three phases of Construction Quality management:

  • Quality Assurance: defining the construction process, critical path thinking to minimize surprises during the construction phase

  • Quality Control: monitor the field construction quality control practices that detect deviations from construction standards and alert construction personnel so deviations can be corrected.

  • Quality Assurance: Share results of quality audits so invoicing can flow without interruption, create a “work without dispute” atmosphere by identifying and correcting most common errors, so they do not reoccur. Champion the Comcast Construction Quality management program presenting the program to construction personnel and help create solutions as part of a team.

  • Has accountability for handling financial resources. Provides subject matter guidance to employees. Has overall responsibility for developing/administering performance standards for organizational unit.

  • Provides management support for Design, Construction, Fiber Construction, Planned and Emergency Restoration, Utility Relations, and Project Management.

  • Leads a team that may include exempt and non-exempt employees. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies, assist in the development and meeting of, departmental budget.

  • Schedules construction projects; oversees compliance of safety standards and quality control of construction projects.

  • Verifies that applicable construction codes and safety regulations are being upheld.

  • Runs all projects to meet or exceed minimum specification to Company Construction Policy, FCC Technical Standards, NEC, OSHA, State, County and/or City and all other applicable agencies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Construction Quality management standards and process flow, following federal, state, and local regulations

  • Ability to convey information in meetings and reports

  • Knowledge of OSP construction and practices

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to operate under deadlines while still meeting quality management standards

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in OSP construction and/or construction Quality management programs.

  • Leads Supervisors, Specialists, and Technicians to provide feedback in order to help employees with career development.

  • Practices and ensures Company safety policies and procedures are followed.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Salary:

Pay Range: $90,633.66 - $135,950.50

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
