Your Impact:

Our Water and Environment business provides a focus for advising our clients on environmental assessment and sustainability issues. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) of new infrastructure requires co-ordinators with a broad range of knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues and excellent people management skills in order to bring together a diverse team of specialists to assess the impact of the infrastructure on the environment and influence design through mitigation. EIAs typically include the assessment of infrastructure on people and communities, biodiversity, cultural heritage, land quality, landscape, noise and vibration, socio-economic and social impacts, transport, and water resources. Consideration is also given to the environmental sustainability of the development into the future in the face of climate change, the need for renewable energy, low carbon economies, and material resource and waste management. Our EIA co-ordinators also develop project management skills in the directing assignments.

About the opportunity

We currently have opportunities for EIA Co-ordinators across our business. However, we are specifically seeking an EIA Co-ordinator to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). The Strategic Pipeline Alliance is a fully integrated and collaborative Alliance of organisations whose purpose is to ‘Make the East of England Resilient to the Effects of Drought.’ By delivering a smart and resilient transfer system through the delivery of pipelines, pumping stations and associated structures, the Alliance will be capable of delivering large scale strategic assets and complex systems to our current asset base by ensuring that these are digitally enabled.

What will you be doing as our new EIA Co-ordinator?

Responsible for the successful delivery of consents for the Strategic Pipeline, reporting to either the Consenting Lead or a senior EIA Co-ordinator, this role will include the collection of baseline data, followed by assessment of impacts, collating and authoring written deliverables and supporting maps for Screening, Scoping and Environmental Statements/Appraisals. In addition to this, the role will include the identification of surveys required to inform the baselines for the above documents. Successful delivery of the role will require you to work in close collaboration with the other EIA Co-ordinators, Discipline Leads and the Consenting Lead, ensuring technical consistency is maintained across the team and the SPA programme. You will also work particularly closely with the design, delivery (construction) stakeholder teams to support fully integrated delivery of the SPA programme and its component projects.

In addition to your EIA and consenting technical management skills, you will be expected to take ownership of programme, forecasting and associated project management tasks in relation to your work portfolio.

  • Delivering all tasks assigned to you promptly and cost effectively

  • Contributing to stakeholder consultation

  • Contributing to development of a standardised, proportionate approach for consenting and EIA deliverables

  • Producing consistent, technical, high quality deliverables

  • Working with the team to ensure that the deliverables for which you are responsible in the programme meet the key SPA milestones

  • Proactively managing forecasting and delivering within agreed budgets

  • Ensuring health and safety, security, and environment compliance

Here’s What You’ll Need:

We are looking for a highly motivated EIA Co-ordinator, who has practical experience in managing Screening, Scoping and EIA on large scale infrastructure schemes. Experience of delivering on water or pipeline infrastructure schemes would be a bonus, as would experience in wider consents and construction environmental management.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player who facilitates the sharing of guidance, standards and expertise across the SPA Framework. You will also be a proactive communicator who will contribute to stakeholder engagement with 3rd party interfaces to ensure the SPA Consenting teams have the best opportunity for gaining approvals in a timely and cost- effective manner.

You will be an innovative thinker who embraces and utilises new technologies and processes to expediate the planning and EIA process and be flexible in the current circumstances of remote working.
