Summary About the Position: This position is with the HQDA Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3 Administrative Office located in Arlington, VA. Responsibilities Manage all duties related to communications security such as setting up and providing COMSEC support and conducting all equipment inventories. Implement guidance in command standards, guidelines, or policies for physical security programs. Accomplish changing combinations, generating access requests, and conducting in-house preliminary inquiries providing assistance and advice as needed. Provide security related assistance and advises personnel on security policies and other security clearance related issues. Recommend and specify policies and methods for enhancing efficiency of security systems through modifications and applications of new techniques. Lead or participate as a technical expert in groups for resolving problems in existing and planned security systems and programs requiring innovative decisions. Maintain a record of all security related transactions and a security file of each person assigned to the organization and authorize physical access to controlled spaces. Independently establish and provide policy, assistance, and oversight. Ability to anticipate the effects of new emerging technology and develop policies to control it to prevent security violations. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Physical SecuritySecurity Tools and MethodsTechnical Security Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Assist in completing appropriate security in-processing documentation; Conduct security clearance verifications for various requests for access to facilities, meetings, or information systems; Ensure appropriate records for Sensitive and Classified information is properly packaged or handled; and Provide recommendations for enhancing the efficiency of security programs through various plans or proposals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This position is a term position and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
