Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.
The selected candidate will support Logistics Supportability Analysis (LSA) and Maintainability design influence efforts and activities necessary to meet system performance requirements. Major responsibilities will include developing and maintaining the Logistics Control Number (LCN) system to identify LSA candidate items, generating the maintenance models, source data for Provisioning, Technical Publications, Support Equipment, and Training. Candidate will be expected to engrain themselves within the engineering design community to ensure logistics and maintainability factors are taken into consideration during all design stages. Candidate will develop the early stages and define logistics parameters that build the foundation for detailed Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) and statistical Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) calculations. The working environment is highly dynamic, fast paced and often with competing priorities and deadlines.
Candidate will analyze and interpret technical data (e.g., drawings, manuals, specifications, etc.) to develop technical and logistics data and create/update relevant reports such as task analysis, maintenance plans, or provisioning requirements reports.
Perform/update Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
Assign static part and application attributes including:
Source, Maintainability, and Recoverability (SMR) codes
Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) values
Logistics footprint characteristics
Support logistics engineering activities and assist as a technical resource from a program's concept and proposal phases through development, test, production, and post-production support phases.
Integrate themselves into the engineering process to influence design from inception throughout the product life cycle, focusing on supportability, maintainability, and other product support elements.
Develop maintenance concepts to ensure the most affordable and effective mission readiness solution.
Responsible for activities that sustain the operation and maintenance of systems to ensure mission readiness.
Be an engaged and versatile team member of the LSA and Maintainability team seeking to adhere to and improve upon existing practices.
The candidate must have strong engineering background and analytical skills and knowledge of a wide array of industry tools used to conduct Logistics analysis and will provide status to the Integrated Product Team (IPT) on a regular basis. Candidate shall also possess strong leadership skills.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years engineering experience.
An active in-scope DoD Secret
The ability to obtain program access
PC mastery with Microsoft Windows Office Products, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation skills and ability to interface directly with internal program office and external customer is required.
Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university
Experience in military maintenance and sustainment support
Heavy engineering design background generating new designs, models, and drawings.
Experience in LSA, Reliability, Maintainability or other logistics related discipline
Experience developing LSA products in accordance with MIL-STD-1388, GEIA-STD-0007 or MIL-PRF-49506
Experience with LSA database tools such as EAGLE or SLICwave.
Familiarity with other logistics tools such as Vmetric, EDCAS, COMPASS, CASA, etc..
An understanding of repair level analysis and life cycle cost modeling.
Experience with CAD programs such as CATIA
Previous experience using LSA data to develop either technical data, technical publications, Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETMs), or training products
Active, In scope DoD Top Secret clearance
