The VP of Azure Voice Core engineering is looking for a Director of Program Operations, ideally spending time each week in our Enfield, UK offices to help drive an efficient and disciplined engineering operation. In this role, you will enable the A4O Voice Core engineering leader to focus on the largest strategic initiatives by ensuring that the organisation runs as a tight delivery engine with well-motivated employees.

You will be a key member of the VP’s leadership team, taking an important role in shaping both the strategic direction for the organisation, and the execution of those plans, along with shaping key communications for the VP both within the organisation and outside it, to motivate and inform the team, and report outwards to the rest of A4O and Azure. You will also own guiding the use of world wide engineering site budget to benefit the A4O UK engineering community, and drive structuring the reporting of data from the engineering teams to enable consistent business reporting and decision making. You will have an amazing opportunity to help create clarity on the function and define what success looks like for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Design & maintain data management systems that efficiently and effectively enables real time reporting of engineering KPIs including portfolioperformance, and supportsstrategic planning

  • Hone and refine critical KPIs which can be used to judge the dev unit performance and put in place systems to collect and dashboard the data automatically

  • Drive and facilitate collaboration & communication amongst various engineeringteams both within A4O and the broader Microsoft team to improve organizational performance

  • Curate and drive creation of reports, documents and other communications required as part of the Rhythm of Business.

  • Drive regular communications and events to inform, educate and inspire the team

  • Partner with HR, Finance, Recruitment (GTA), and other supporting functions to drive critical activities in support of the team.

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor working alongside organisational leaders to determine priorities, opportunities & risks; support change management & continuous improvement.

  • May in time involve management of a small team to assist with the responsibilities above as the portfolio grows.

The successful Program Operations leader will have a demonstrated ability to

  • Establish deep & trusted relationships and networks with all key stakeholders & execs in different functions across the organization and company

  • Know thecriticalattributes ofdeliveringsuccessfulsoftwareengineering projects

  • Have a solid grounding in Project Management skills – including planning, tracking and execution

  • Quickly develop an effective understanding of a complex portfolio and its characteristics-both from a technical, as well as business and process perspective.

  • Be hands-on as well as recruit and build a high performingorganization

  • Know what's important and communicate effectively

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Considerablerelevant experience in: Change management,Software engineering management,Business Transformation - Business Management/ Planning, Operations and/or reporting

  • Degree educated(with MBA/Masters a plus)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with product management and engineering teams with a proven ability to influence technical peers and senior leaders.

  • Strong execution and experience managing multiple workstreams with precise attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with focus on crisp, concise and effective communication

  • General understanding of the market and competitive landscape

  • Experience leading and executing projects effectively within complex and ambiguous environments.

  • Ability to proactively identify gaps in thebusiness andpropose / drive thoughtful and inclusive solutions.

  • Strong collaboration experience and ability to find win/win situations.

  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills

  • Proven track record in project and business management

  • Ability to maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments.

  • Ability to travel domestically when appropriate and as needed.
