Construction Engineer Specialist - ITS Transportation Infrastructure - Orlando, Florida ( Part-Time Position)

Opportunity :

Our Parsons Orlando office has a unique role opportunity open for a Construction Engineer Specialist with ITS inspection experience to support projects in the FDOT central and north Florida districts.

This role requires experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Signal Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) skills to join our Orlando / Central Florida team. This position will be responsible for performing assignments in assisting the FDOT District 5 (D5) Senior Project Manager in the performance of their duties and will receive general supervision from the Parsons Senior Project Engineer. Our Orlando team has been working continuously together on various award-winning projects for decades. This position will require working in District 5 and the nine Central Florida counties it serves . This position will start as part-time (20 hours per week) with the opportunity of becoming a full-time 40 hour position based on FDOT needs and individual performance.

Scope of Duties :

  • Attending progress meetings, taking detailed notes and completing meeting minutes

  • Updating meeting agendas, action item lists and other meeting material

  • Update D5's ITS FM database - Must have a familiarity with the software

  • Facilitate resolution of construction issues by coordinating with the client, contractor and other stakeholders

  • Verification CEI oversite of different ITS/Traffic Operations aspects on FDOT Projects

  • Provide technical support and task management for transportation projects

Requirements :

  • 2+ years of FDOT CEI Inspector experience with a high school diploma or GED or 1+ years FDOT CEI experience with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • 4-year degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience, as well as 3 to 5 years of experience in field construction is required.

  • Ability to organize projects and tasks, stay on schedule and meet required deadlines

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, to meet common goals

  • Basic computer skills and networking experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must have the Following Required Certifications:

  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level 1 or IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1

  • FDOT Intermediate MOT

Would be a Plus:

  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II, ITS or Traffic Signal Inspector

  • FDOT Intermediate or Advanced MOT Certification

  • Corning Fiber Optic Cable or OSI Network Certification
