Job Description Summary

Travelers is looking for energetic, creative and talented people to join our CRM team, powered by the Salesforce platform. You will be responsible for creating a process and growing an organization for the continued population, maintenance and governance of the Salesforce data asset supporting sales, service and marketing capability. You will lead the successful data integration of Salesforce implementations, ensuring alignment to Enterprise standards and working with multiple enterprise teams. Leveraging an Agile delivery model, you will lead multiple data teams and will partner closely with the Salesforce architect, technical leaders, multiple lines of business and interfacing groups to ensure that the data integration solutions meet complex business needs and are maintained and governed. You will lead design sessions and inform technical decision making with regards to usability, code quality, and efficiency. You will have a profound effect on driving efficiencies, increasing revenue and enabling a strategic technical foundation for the future. This is a technical leadership position providing strategy development, oversight and hands on contributions to the design, development, and integration of solutions.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement data integration solutions between business source, middleware, Salesforce and reporting systems.

  • Gathers, assesses and ensures that business requirements are met or exceeded with the solutions implemented.

  • Work across multiple business, neighboring and enterprise teams, the Master Data Management group in particular, to ensure planning alignment, understanding of business and delivery needs and expectations.

  • Addresses enterprise needs with regards to a consistent data model while maintaining focus on specific business unit needs.

  • Assist with data assessment, data quality initiatives and triage data issues as they relate to the ability to supply and maintain quality data in the Salesforce application.

  • Lead data team members and approve detailed solution designs, provide guidance to junior team members, perform code reviews and ensure appropriate artifacts are reviewed and approved.

  • Lead data management and governance standards creation and implementation on the Salesforce data model.

  • Develop design principles, and oversee a team, to collaborate with business groups and lead your data delivery teams to create, integrate or implement workflow, decision driven reporting in Salesforce.

  • Own creation of Travelers Salesforce data asset that will be quickly accessed and understood by different Travelers groups for analysis and reporting.

  • Define development standards and guidelines for assigned team and work – effectively review and monitor adherence to those standards.

  • Work with other technical leads, architects, platform and product owners to identify and recommend technical solutions and alternatives related to the Salesforce platform implementation for Travelers – assess trade-offs and impact analyses as part of the recommendations.

  • Participate and lead Agile delivery activities such as design, estimating, retrospectives and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure availability of the data platform and provide on-call support to resolve application issues when necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience.

  • Five years of programming/development experience.

  • One year of experience of technical leadership.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

  • Ten plus years of experience working in a software development role with a focus on Data Integration..

  • Previous experience leading and managing a team..

  • At least 3 years of experience leading and delivering data integration solutions.

  • Strong architectural experience, specifically regarding API design & distributed systems (e.g. encapsulation, backwards compatibility/versioning).

  • Experience completing cloud-based integrations utilizing REST APIs, AMQP (e.g. RabbitMQ, AWS SQS, CometD, etc.) or other real-time and near-real time integration patterns.

  • Working knowledge and demonstrated experience working with Mulesoft and Informatica products preferred.

  • Knowledge and working with Master Data Management (MDM) solutions is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Web Services, WS security standards and ability to provide solutions in a multi-vendor and architecture environment.

  • Good knowledge of SOA architecture and fluency in web service standards such as WSSE and technologies (XML, SOAP, WSDL, XSD, UDDI, REST) preferred.

  • Knowledge of Security, Logging, Auditing, Policy Management and Performance Monitoring and KPI for end-to-end process execution.

  • Deep understanding of Synchronous / Asynchronous communication patterns, Message Sequencing, Correlation, Queuing.

  • Strong understanding of relational databases; experience working with different adaptors and JMS queues.

  • Knowledge of Integration Design patterns for building middleware systems.

  • Experience working in an Agile delivery model.

  • Working knowledge of test automation tools like Selenium.

  • Working knowledge of CA Agile Manager (Rally) or similar ALM tools.

  • Working knowledge of automated deployment / DevOps tools and technologies.

  • Working knowledge of source control management tools such as Git.

  • Proficiency with Data tools (SQL Server, SQL, ETL, Dataloader, etc.) is desirable.

  • Domain Expertise - Demonstrated track record of domain expertise including the ability to leverage expertise to improve company level capabilities within domain, consult on business priorities and optimize value by identifying business aligned solutions and thoughtfully and practically introduce concepts and technologies from the industry.

  • Problem Solving - Strong problem solver who creates architecture that is particularly robust against single points of failure, both in terms of systems and people and looks ahead 6-12 months to identify areas of need and turns this into action.

  • Communication - Strong communicator who possesses the ability to describe technology concepts in ways the business can understand, document effectively so that systems/architectures can be maintained or built upon, collaborate across disparate groups, helping to identify common goals and gain consensus, adapt language to meet the needs of various levels of technical and non-technical audiences and model and assist others in the practice of mindful communication, active listening, and messaging.

  • Leadership - Advanced leadership skills including the ability to leverage internal networks across engineering and engage with other leaders to solve problems and develop strong credibility throughout the company as well as choose the most critical engineering challenges and work to improve the entire engineering organization by teaching others and sharing knowledge while creating opportunities for others to showcase and develop skills.
