Overview: This associate is responsible to plan and carry out all policies relating to Environmental, Health and Safety at Capstone and for all of its associates. Identify and incorporate any prospective engineering improvements. Facilitate all necessary trainings. Oversees the various programs for the company. Maintains files as per Federal and State regulations. Active participant in leading the company to be better in all regards to Environmental, Health, and Safety. Main Duties & Responsibilities
Takes an active role throughout the business to get to know the associates on all shifts and drive the team towards behavioral safety practices – thinking, acting, and being safe – ALWAYS.
Supports the efforts of the associates to drive safety AND productivity
Ensure all required trainings are up to date. Coordinates with departmental supervision, trainers, and other key individuals to ensure that regular and consistent safety training is conducted. (i.e. Tech Level Training, Forklift Certification, CPR/FA training, Safety compliance training etc.)
Assist in developing and implementing all company and/or departments policies and procedures including the company handbook as they relate to Safety. Consults legal counsel if necessary.
Conducts site inspections and audits to ensure continued compliance of all Federal/State Safety Laws and Regulations
Counsels with management in regard to regulations, laws or agencies such as EEOC, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, EPA, ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, HIPPA, UDWFS. W/C etc. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Federal and State Laws and Regulations.
May be asked to assist in ensuring all personnel files are in compliance with ADA, HIPPA ,W/C, OSHA, regulations.
Conducts disciplinary meetings in conjunction with the associate’s supervisor. Ensure all documentation is correct.
Oversee all safety related PPE equipment and has knowledge to maintain testing requirements associated with applicable PPE (i.e. baseline hearing, respiratory, etc.)
Oversee a Drug Free Workplace Program. Ensure proper testing is done to ensure the workplace is safe, discounts on insurance policies.
Accurate and timely recording of information on specified documents.
College degree preferred/experience in lieu of degree acceptable.
Must be familiar with OSHA 300 and 100 Logs and reports.
Must possess the ability to develop and maintain a teamwork environment.
Ability to perform all tasks defined above.
Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.
Subject to moderate noise level
Subject to high noise levels where hearing protection may be required
Subject to atmospheric conditions, such as fumes from the machines, odors, powders, dust and other particles.
