Under assessment and direction of the Staff Nurse (RN) and according to established policies and procedures, performs patient care activities in order to assist health care providers in performing various technical and clerical procedures in the patient care area. The point of care technician assist with the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. He/She performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the department. The POCT will assist in patient care throughout department, transporting patients safely via wheelchair or stretcher, bathing, obtaining vital signs, and performing other duties as assigned.
High School graduate or GED.
Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
State Tested Nursing Assistant Preferred.
