Norman Regional Health System Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Step Down - PRN I - Days - Porter Campus in Norman, Oklahoma

Norman Regional Health System's Progressive Care staff cares for a wide variety of patients with complex medical conditions requiring intermediate or critical care. NRHS is an accredited primary stroke center and the Progressive Care is our dedicated stroke unit for the health system. RN essential functions include, but are not limited to: collaboration with other health professionals, assessment, analyzing assessment data, establishing goals, planning care strategy, establishing priorities of care, implementing care, delegating tasks safely, providing safe direct and indirect nursing care, evaluating responses to interventions, and performing additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation.

PCU nurses are critical thinkers and highly skilled to rapidly assess a patient's condition and intervene with immediate attention.

Common medication drips include Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone.


Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.


Previous experience in healthcare field preferred.

(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience).


Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN license.

Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training is required within 6 months of hire.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment.

Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) training is required within 8 months of hire and required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment.

These classes and certifications are offered at NRHS.

PRN I requires 3 shifts scheduled per 6 week schedule and includes 1 weekend shift.

One summer and one winter holiday scheduled are also required.
