1 st shift: 7am to 3:30pm- Monday to Friday

Position Overview

The Laboratory Technician is cooperatively responsible for the analytical results produced by the Quality & Environmental Laboratory. This accountability is fulfilled through effective coordination of samples, data and reporting for the production, safety and environmental departments.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for sampling, testing, packaging and shipment of environmental samples, including water samples. Responsible for preparation of shipping documents for these samples and for coordination of sample pick-up and delivery with external 3rd party analytical laboratories. Responsible for the upkeep of automatic samplers for collection of water samples.

  2. Performs analysis and completes the certification process for shipments of all finished products of the Niagara Plant.

  3. Assure that the Niagara Plant, as well as other internal and external customers, are serviced with chemical analysis in a timely, accurate, low cost manner, on a 7 day/week basis.

  4. Issues reports and/or certificates of analysis, while maintaining various logbooks and programs with data generated.

  5. Performs sampling and maintains sampling equipment as required. Sampling will include physical samples or data collection/recording.

  6. Maintains appropriate calibrations and performs necessary instrumental and equipment maintenance.

  7. Support the Laboratory service function to include: storage of production samples, packaging and shipping samples, stockroom services to the Laboratory and plant, and other sampling services.

  8. Prepares standard solutions for internal usage or for outside laboratory support.

  9. Coordinate Laboratory workloads with other Technicians to ensure support of Plant functions and full utilization of Laboratory resources.

  10. Maintains the necessary documentation and familiarity with ISO, NSF and other program protocols necessary for certification within each.

Required Qualifications:

Must be knowledgeable in analytical chemistry and techniques and have general computer skills necessary for day-to-day laboratory analysis and reporting. Degree requirements are: minimum AAS in chemistry, or other laboratory science, and a minimum of four years of practical laboratory experience.
