What you will be doingThe Business Development Specialist prospects for new customers in the targeted Retail Independent Pharmacy market virtually, using consultative selling skills to identify their specific needs. This role works collaboratively with subject matter experts, SmartSource Representatives, Sales Executives, District Directors, Business Development Managers and the Directors to progress customers throughout our sales process.

Develops productive business relationships with targeted Independent Retail Pharmacy prospective customers that build individual customer trust and confidence in the ABC selling process.
Continually develops and demonstrates high level Retail Independent market knowledge that builds sales trust and confidence both internally and externally.
Successfully develops relationships and works collaboratively with internal ABC subject matter experts, business stakeholders, operations and sales team members as required/appropriate to sell new targeted Retail Independent business.
Successfully implements consultative selling skills with prospective customers as required and appropriate to uncover individual needs.
Develops and persuasively presents customer proposals that meet the needs of individual prospective customers in the Bronze Segment
Closes new customer business in the Bronze Segment in each fiscal year in order to meet assigned revenue and profitability goals.
Ensures that each account is fully operational before handing off to the Inside Sales Executive team for account management.
Ensure smooth handover of accounts meeting criteria for "active pipeline" to SE / BDM/Smartsource in accordance with the outlined sales process.
Effectively and efficiently manages the prospect target list to ensure that all leads are qualified and pertinent information is added to the HUB.
Able to open SMT accounts and connect customers with onboarding teams
Performs generics specialist responsibilities when necessary to support PTO or vacant positions.
Participates in required sales training that will allow the AmerisourceBergen sales force to continually maintain a consultative sales approach with all customers
Actively seeks additional training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Must be willing to work extended hours, as needed, in order to meet sales objectives.
Performs related duties as assigned.
What your background should look like (minimum qualifications)
Requires a minimum of 2 - 3 years of demonstrated and successful phone based sales experience.
Broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Excellent and persuasive consultative selling skills, comfortable closing skills
Ability to rapidly build trust and credibility with prospective customers.
Excellent new customer sales pipeline management skills
Excellent understanding of the Retail Independent business segment; industry and competitive knowledge
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working and business relationships
Able to build internal collaboration with subject matter experts and others as necessary
Able to build customer relationships and trust quickly to challenge customer mindsets; comfortable closing sales
Strong analytical skills; quick thinker
Highly competitive and goal oriented
Good understanding of value and profit principles
Strong creativity skills; focused and disciplined
Strong presentation skills; up-to-date knowledge of presentation software and equipment
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Meticulous follow-up skills; assertive in promoting ABC solutions to prospective customers
