A-dec, Inc. Test Engineer - Software Quality Assurance in Newberg, Oregon

Overview

We are searching for someone both meticulous and passionate to help ensure the quality of our software platform. You will join a successful agile team responsible for developing and maintaining software used for world class dental equipment platforms. As a member of our team, you will partner with other members of the hardware and software engineering groups to ensure high quality software releases. Your main responsibility is to identify weaknesses before they manifest in system-wide failures.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and performs mechanical or materials tests on prototypes and on new and existing products. Works with Engineering and Design staff to determine what end results need to be and designs and builds tests using complex tools and equipment based on need.

  • Captures and records testing data and writes test reports to document product performance and notes issues that need to be addressed.

  • Provides input and recommendations for improvements to Engineering and Product Development based on technical knowledge.

  • Provides mentorship and leadership to Engineering Technicians.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or approximately five years of practical experience in a related field with technical competence and theoretical knowledge similar to that of a BS in Engineering degree.

  • Proficiency with lab skills, test mechanics, and a basic understanding of machining parts.

  • Experience with 3D CAD tools, test robots, PLC controllers, and other lab test instrumentation.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to follow safety guidelines.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with CAN Bus, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C interfaces

  • Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)

  • Experience with Embedded Linux development

  • Experience with C/C++, Python

  • Experience with applications for Single Board computers, either commercial or custom

  • Use of requirements management tools and systems

  • Use of Jama

  • Use of Jira

  • Experience in regulated software environments

  • Use of Logic Analyzers

  • Use of Protocol Analyzers
