Position Overview

Autodesk Construction Solutions R&D team is looking for a Senior Principal Engineer who will be a critical member of a team that provides operational support of the infrastructure and all the necessary processes and procedures to support our products. The successful candidate will be responsible for instilling DevOps and software development tasks for critical and core code functionality of the existing web applications and program areas. Other responsibilities include participating in meetings, working groups, design sessions, and technical knowledge shares.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of technical designs, code development, and component test execution to demonstrate alignment to the functional specification

  • Must be proficient in coding languages and technologies, e.g., Java, Spring, Angular

  • Has Hands-on Test-Driven Development experience and able to author Unit, Integration testing

  • Familiar with Linux systems hosted in a cloud environment (for example: AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, Elastic Cache, and S3, to name a few)

  • Experience with CI/CD products. Using configuration management and integration/build automation tools to lead and deploy Java code

  • Applying knowledge of common, relevant architecture frameworks in defining and evaluating application architectures

  • Performing code reviews and providing critical suggestions for fixes and improvements

  • Experience programming with serverless compute technologies, e.g., AWS Lambda

  • Understand and assist in implementing monitoring in cloud and of the PaaS/IaaS

  • A strong desire to understand complex systems and how to troubleshoot and make them highly available

  • Fixing and performance tuning Java-based applications

  • Supporting issue analysis and fix activities during test phases, as well as production issue resolution

  • Developing and demonstrating a broad set of technology skills in Java technologies, microservice design patterns, Open-Source libraries and frameworks, and technology architecture concepts

  • Collaborating within a project team comprised of talented employees with diverse and complementary skills in an Agile fashion.

  • A desire to continually improve and you value giving and receiving constant and constructive feedback

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires 10+ years of experience in a similar role or functions

  • Requires a master’s degree

  • Ability to interact at all levels of management internally, and with customers and suppliers

  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent follow-through

  • Takes initiative, ownership, and thrives with autonomy

  • Must be able to multi-task and manage time amongst clients

  • Flexibility and ability to bounce between projects quickly
