Job Description

Background:

The Strategic Execution (SE) team reports into the CIB Technology Chief of Staff (CoS) organisation. SE's mission is to work with the CIB Technology executive team to accelerate strategic priorities and apply our breadth of knowledge and experience to provide transparency to senior leadership and enable data-driven decision making.

The SE team partners with teams across lines of Business (LOB), Global Technology, Data, Digital and Operations functions to identify and solve complex problems and implementation issues critical to the success of the CIO's strategy.

We are a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Business, Strategy and Technology SMEs. We are looking for a VP candidate with a strong technology background and with exposure to modern technologies. We work on cross CIB Technology strategic initiatives like Application & Infrastructure Modernizaton, Data modernization and Operating Model strategy

Role:

Successful candidates will partner with LOB and domain experts in a cross-functional 'project' based environment similar to an internal consulting function. The role will provide an opportunity to work on projects across the CIB Tech organization, rather than just a focusing on specific LOB. Successful candidates will be involved in initiatives specifically focused on accelerating DPS's platform project priorities e.g. Application & Infrastructure modernization, Data Modernization etc. They will also have significant exposure & visibility to senior management.

This role is ideal for highly motivated individuals with advanced problem solving and communication skill. The successful candidate will have a deep technical business technologist background (application, data and infrastructure plus modern programming language expertise) and a proven track record of accelerated delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • The role will report to the SE Tech lead and capacity so the group can work simultaneously on multiple initiatives across CIB Tech priorities

  • Establishing strong partnerships, while challenging colleagues from other functions across the Firm

  • Gathering, analyzing and synthesizing feedback in a compressed time period (typically weeks) from cross-LOB interaction to help drive SE initiatives

  • Working with other SE team members developing & syndicating recommendations

Technical Capabilities

  • Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines

  • Advanced knowledge of architecture and design across all systems

  • Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages

  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices e.g. Cloud, AI/ML, Data, API first approach

  • Knowledge of CI/CD, Developer tool-chain, test-driven development and Agile development practices

  • Data analysis skills (gathering, analysis, visualization) to derive insights would be a strong plus

Problem Solving & Communications

  • Ability to structure and scope complex problems, identify major issues and apply a range of analytical tools to develop actionable opportunities

  • Advanced ability to quickly derive patterns and insights from data and analysis

  • Strong client management and executive-level communication skills

  • Develop deep trust-based advisor relationships with key client stakeholders and ensure client is satisfied throughout engagement

  • Ability to create content and structure presentations with minimal input and need for secondary review

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience, with at least 8+ years of relevant experience

  • Financial services background is preferred, but not mandatory
