What you’ll be doing...
Our 5G Disruption team is part of the New Business Incubation organization within Corporate Strategy, alongside several other nascent new businesses in drones, robotics, and location services. We're seeding a portfolio of net-new enterprise software businesses that push Verizon beyond connectivity to drive new forms of industrial automation and autonomy. And we're seeking entrepreneurs, inventors, innovators, strategists, and all-around creators to join us in our journey.
The New Business Architect is responsible for identifying potential disruptive new businesses powered by 5G and edge computing and leading the exploration, validation, and early commercialization of individual opportunities. The role will require collaborating cross-functionally with other strategists, researchers, product managers, and engineers to craft end-to-end business models that solve meaningful customer problems through differentiated B2B software platforms. The innovation process is never a straight line though, so you will need to continuously learn, analyze, and refine the opportunity, steering the team through progressive strategy iterations and taking ownership over the path to commercializing a scalable new business.
Identify, design, and build strategies around new business opportunities from end-to-end, translating insights and ideas into fully-formed business plans through iterative hypothesis development and validation.
Lead the design and execution of primary/secondary research and in-market experiments to validate early assumptions and crystalize the business plan.
Analyze the opportunity size and competitive landscape to inform where we should play and how we can win.
Build bottom-up financial models to assess technical, economic, and market potential of the opportunities.
Craft go-to-market strategies and implementation plans, including build/buy/partner analyses and diligence.
Lead initial business development efforts for individual opportunities leading up to commercialization.
Package strategies into cohesive, executive facing business plan narratives and present to Verizon C-level leadership.
Program manage individual opportunity explorations from ideation through launch.
Support ad-hoc strategic projects.
