NavaDerm RN/LPN in Research - Laser & Skin Surgery Center - New York, NY in New York, New York

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the research department at Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York in an RN or LPN role. This is a robust research department that consistently performs several clinical patient trials. The candidate will be an essential member of a team investigating various interventions, including topical formulations, cosmetic injectables, lasers, and other-energy-based devices.

Under direction of research leadership and the investigative team and following training, the candidate will be required to perform duties related to human clinical trial research. Specifically, the candidate will interact directly with subjects, including rooming and patient intake, informed consent discussions, intervention and follow-up visits, photography, telephone calls, emails, and scheduling. Other duties will include processing of human biospecimens, including blood and urine samples, interpreting the medical record and recording specific elements into charts, and collecting, managing, and displaying data.

Prior experience working in clinical trial research and patient care is preferred. The ideal candidate should have high school diploma or GED and certification as an RN or LPN. Other necessary skills include the ability to communicate effectively, work as a team member, display organizational efficiency, and adapt to new processes as necessary. Compensation will be based on qualifications and commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist research leadership and investigative team with study execution

  • Assist in all aspects of initiating, maintaining, and completing research studies

  • Ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and study protocols; Must complete CITI courses as part of introductory training

  • Assist physicians with treatments involving study subjects and patients

  • Provide care to patients prior to, during, and following treatments

  • Provide care to patients, including gathering medical history, vital signs, and medication updates as well as medical record charting

  • Prepare and clean examination rooms and clinical equipment

  • Take patient photographs using available cameras and imaging systems

  • Compile and maintain study data, including patient logs, screening logs, and study descriptions

  • Work with study monitors and sponsors to ensure collection and review of study data

  • Generate and organize study documents, informed consents, and data presentations

  • Attend and assist with organizing research meetings

  • Maintain study equipment, source documents, and study forms

  • Ensure adequate inventory in the research department, including study supplies

  • Recruit and screen study subjects; Schedule patient appointments

  • Answer telephone calls/emails and provide patients with research information

    Ability to sit and stand for periods of time. Heavy computer use required. This role may require from time to time lifting heavy objects on a regular basis, doing repetitive tasks with few breaks, and requiring light cleaning.
