Nurse Practitioner 7am-5:30pm
The interventional radiology nurse practitioner works collaboratively with interventional radiologists in the assessment and therapeutic treatment of patients. The NP serves as a key liaison between referring physicians, patients and radiologists, allowing for the optimal and efficient interdisciplinary coordination of services in the ambulatory and inpatient setting. The Interventional Radiology NP role includes:
Providing Pre- and Post-procedure assessment and education to patients and their families
Conducting history and physical exams
Serving as a liaison between referring physician and interventional radiologists.
Managing the ambulatory and inpatient procedure schedule
Ordering and interpreting labs results and prescribing medications
Initiating coordination of care between radiology modalities and inpatient floors
Managing and appropriately escalating post procedure issues, as needed
Inserting, evaluating and maintaining Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs)
Processing Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Ordering and administrating of contrast agents and providing assessments for premedication for the delivery of contrast agents as needed
Improved patient safety
Enhanced patient education pertaining to expectations and outcomes
Improved interdisciplinary care coordination
Enhanced productivity by taking ownership of the medical patients care, allowing interventional radiologists to concentrate on their procedures/image interpretation
Consultation resource to clinicians ordering procedures
Current NYS license and registration
Degree from an accredited school of nursing program
FNP board certification is required
DEA license required upon hire
Infection Control certification
Completion of a child abuse recognition course
*Physician Assistants can be considered for this position.
