Thornton Tomasetti IT/Organizational Change Management Specialist in New York, New York

Thornton Tomasetti provides engineering design, investigation and analysis services to clients worldwide on projects of every size and level of complexity. We are a growing 1500+ person firm with 10 practices: Structural Engineering, Forensics, Applied Science, Renewal, Property Loss Consulting, Construction Engineering, Protective Design and Security, Facade Engineering, Sustainability and Transportation. This hands-on role is equal parts strategic, tactical and creative. This team member will work closely with management and executives.

The primary responsibility of the IT/Organizational Change Management Specialist is to evangelize standard software and technology solutions that are used by our staff to improve collaboration and communication and that enhance and accelerate common workflows. This team member will also be tasked with identifying potential enhancements to our corporate intranet, knowledge sharing platform and Office 365. They will investigate potential options to solve challenges related to data flow, work process and employee communications and lead implementation of improvements in cooperation with other experts and stakeholders.

The Goals

  • Strategic

    • Evaluate analytics to identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities associated with our internal communications, collaboration and knowledge sharing systems.

    • Understand the available commercial software utilized internally for intranets, knowledge sharing, workflow automation, data storage and visualization and identify opportunities that will benefit the firm.

    • Work with our Knowledge Manager on enhancing current tools and delivering new tools that allow for employees to get correct answers to their questions faster.

    • Develop project and communications plans for IT-related enhancements and changes.

  • Tactical

    • Partner with IT and our Director of Learning to develop plans for maintenance, documentation, and training materials related to communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing platforms.

    • Evangelize enterprise solutions by hosting training sessions and webinars geared towards improving user adoption, behaviors and knowledge.

    • Hands on management of our knowledge sharing platform, including issue tracking, user support and vendor relations,

  • Creative

    • Brainstorm and champion solutions to improve Community of Practice engagement, resulting in greater achievements and leader satisfaction.

    • Along with our Knowledge Manager, partner with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for increasing serendipitous connections between our people and their ideas.


  • Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.

  • 2-5 years of experience in organizational or IT change management in the AEC or Professional Services industries.

  • Energetic facilitator and presenter, good public speaker.

  • Good writer and communicator.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, while being able to collaborate across departments and offices.

  • Demonstrate history of creative thinking, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on "ground up" initiatives.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 experience, including Power BI, Excel, Power Automate, Teams. Knowledge of other platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Jive, Workday) and experience integrating workflow across applications is a strong plus.
