Cigna External Communications - Senior Manager in New York, New York
Cigna is seeking an accomplished and highly motivated professional for the position of Senior Manager, External Communications to help shape and execute the company’s strategic communications. This individual will help manage the development of high impact strategies designed to drive the Cigna mission and vision forward by effectively communicating with national media, third party influencers and other stakeholders. The role will also work to strengthen the presence of the Communication’s function within the organization by driving integration and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Develop external communications strategies (proactive and reactive), in collaboration with Senior Director of External Communications
Support public affairs programming and initiatives to promote and protect brand reputation
Support enterprise and CEO thought leadership strategies and programming
Establish strong and collaborative working relations with other leaders within Communications and across the organization (i.e. Marketing, Government Affairs, Foundation, business segments, etc.)
Monitor and evaluate results of communications programs, using key metrics to track progress and insights for continuous improvement
Our Ideal Candidate Will Offer:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, journalism or related discipline
At least 10-12 years of experience working in public relations, communications, public affairs or media relations
Deep understanding of media relations strategies and tactics in the health care industry, with an existing network of relevant reporter relationships
Strong writing and editing skills; ability to write for a variety of audiences across multiple communication channels and vehicles
Evidence of keen insight into the integration between business and communications’ objectives
Tact and discretion to work with confidential information and Cigna employees at all levels
Experience working in a global, highly-matrixed, deadline-sensitive environment
