Tommy John Director, Product Operations in New York, New York

We are constantly on a mission to add smart, innovative and fun-loving team members, and are looking for a Director, Product Operations to come join our New York based headquarters.

We are seeking an individual who can achieve the end to end business objectives for Tommy John through management of the product development lifecycle which meets or exceeds the aesthetic, quality, price and delivery requirements. The main goal will be to drive product innovation and quality, and delivering world class products in a cost efficient and agile manner by leveraging best practices and/or expertise synergies across teams. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, broad understanding of product creation, proven record of leadership in a multifaceted environment, and strong ability to identify root cause and create an optimal path forward.

Responsibilities:

CALENDAR

  • Drive product creation calendar and process discipline

  • High-level leadership view

  • Detailed gate view for cross functional working teams

  • Simplify, re-sequence and eliminate gates as digital tools are onboarded to automate

  • Creation and maintenance of specific calendar in partnership with merch, design, development, etc.

  • Lead weekly meetings with cross-functional teams (Merch, Design, Development) to ensure all are tracking to deliverables and troubleshoot any gaps

PROCESS AND PROJECTS

  • Own the aggregation of the following tools across all teams and create a single format to be used for each season:

  • Materials alignment input worksheets

  • Product Briefing tools

  • Merchant line-plans and Product Line Sheets

  • Product tools and templates

  • Transition management

  • Process improvement

STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Set up the key milestone meetings seasonally and ensure tools and expectations are ready for Kick Off, Line Plan Confirm, Sketch review, ELT review, Wholesale Handover, and any further meetings where integration across teams is critical.

  • Lead operations strategy creation and deployment

  • Drive deployment of 3 Year plan

BUSINESS METRICS

  • Partner with Finance, Planning, Sales, and Merchandising to create a dashboard for monthly reporting updates

  • Ad hoc tools and reporting (KPI?s) as necessary

  • Buy Ready troubleshooting as necessary

COMMUNICATION

  • Ensure critical information is shared with team in a timely matter; Develop inclusion and partnership with all parties

  • Be an Ambassador of the product engine with approachability and enthusiasm for the business

  • Set clear priorities, and drive clarity and alignment connected to our strategy

PRODUCT PROMOTION CALENDAR

  • Collaborate with Finance, Marketing and Retail to align on product promotions that will drive company initiatives

  • Own promotional KPI's

  • Ensure we come in under or at our product discount thresholds

  • Cascade promotional strategies to entire company

Requirements:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Product Development, Manufacturing or related field; Master?s and/or additional certifications, a plus

  • 10+ years of experience in product leadership roles, preferably in apparel or lifestyle brands

  • 5+ years of experience in a managing/supervising capacity

  • Proven track record in leading a business to growth and inspiring an organization to change

  • Proven product development experience and expertise in understanding and interpreting consumer insight and market intelligence to maximize business growth and market share.

  • Excellent organizational, communication and negotiation skills

  • Problem solver with keen attention to detail

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Suite and creative software including, Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM/RLM
