Job Summary/Basic Function:

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for website development, improvement and maintenance for the Office of Graduate Student Life & Development (GSLD) including calendars of events, Orientation, Student Organizations, Graduate Writing Center and additional microsites.

• Responsible for graphic design creation and distribution for the above subareas of GSLD, including print and digital material, Orientation programming (Fall & Spring) and Summer Welcome, Graduate Student Appreciation Week, community/annual programming.

• Scheduling and posting of GSLD content on social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)

• Various projects throughout the position may also require photography and video editing capabilities (iMovie); skills in both are not required but desirable.

• Responsible for attending, assisting and managing events, both virtually and in-person (when the pandemic resolves).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a matriculating student in a TC degree-granting program. Full-time TC employees are not eligible for this position. Must be able to abide by the TC Student Confidentiality Agreement, Student Privacy Requirement and Student Code of Conduct.

• Knowledge and/or experience with social media and web-based communications, specifically with web content and design.

• Knowledge of basic photo editing preferred. Additional experience with web authoring tools are desirable but are not required.

• Must possess strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain clear lines of communication with TC web and development team (coordinated through GSLD), GSLD Professional Staff Members, and other student staff.

• Must be a strong team player; possess the ability to work well with others in a diverse group of students and staff, while demonstrating the ability to work effectively independently.

• Ability to multitask; prioritize work with little or no supervision; remain organized and be able to effectively communicate their need for assistance or clarity.

• Ability to conceptualize department needs; generate creative and innovative materials; ability to work independently; fast learner with strong motivational capabilities.

• MUST BE AVAILABLE DURING ALL COLLEGE-WIDE ORIENTATION/NEW STUDENT PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES (NSO Spring ‘21; Summer Welcome ‘21; NSO Fall ‘21).

  • Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought

  • Must be a student matriculated in a TC degree program

  • Must be taking at least 6 credits (or equivalent, which includes full-time equivalent offerings - HBSK 6480, CCPJ 6480, CCPX 6480, or any 8900 course)

  • Full-time TC employees are not eligible for this position

  • Must be able to abide by the Student Confidentiality Agreement

  • Must be able to abide by the Student Privacy Requirements.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates should have experience with the following:

• Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, CorelDraw or similar programs

• Canva or other similar graphic design programs

• Video editing software (iMovie or Final Cut Pro), or similar programs

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Google Apps (Drives [team], Calendar, etc.)

• Zoom, or other web-based conferencing platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with web publishing (Terminal Four); working knowledge of HTML, Active Server Pages (ASP)/Source code, JavaScript, Structured Query Language (SQL) a plus

• Familiarity with FTP, Server Side Includes (SSI), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), cross browser design, and accessibility

• Minimum 12-month appointment; 2 year-commitment preferred (anticipated graduation May 2022 or after)
