J.P. Morgan’s industry leading Public Finance group within the Corporate & Investment Bank serves the firm’s public sector and non-profit clients with a focus on meeting the complex investment banking needs of U.S. municipalities, non-profits and taxable/tax-exempt fixed income investors. In facilitating our clients’ access to capital, Public Finance is divided into Investment Banking and Sales, Trading & Syndicate.

Public Finance Syndicate is fast-paced, challenging, and intellectually intriguing. The main objective of Public Finance Syndicate is to work together with banking, investor marketing, debt capital markets, trading, and sales to deliver best in class financing solutions to municipal and not-for-profit issuers. Individuals on this desk assist issuer clients to access the capital markets and work with the investment banking to provide creative and effective solutions for clients. You will also work with the trading, sales and investor marketing teams to provide comprehensive client coverage, including providing market updates, effectively marketing new issues to investor clients and pitching for new business opportunities. You will also partner with investment banking to structure new issues transactions, using market intelligence which is critical to this role. You will work in a team atmosphere, providing back up to other syndicate members and maximizing the output of the desk. The ability to effectively communicate market trends, their effect on the new issue market and its clear presentation are essential on this desk.

Public Finance Syndicate is looking for a Vice President/Executive Director to assist with the origination, management, marketing, pricing and distribution of new issue Public Finance products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketingof J.P. Morgan lead managed and co-managed public finance transactions

  • Providenew issue indicative pricings to banking and issuers

  • Analyticalwork - Be involved in any analytical work prepared for clients or internalpartners including different banking teams. Work with existingmodels and create simple new models to study market dynamics.Ability to clearly present the results in written and oral form.

  • Dealexecution - Work with both banking and issuers to determine theappropriate timing, structure, spreads for new issue Public Finance productsin a dynamic market environment.Establish ahigh degree of competence with clients around executing new issuetransactions.

  • Clientcontact and relationship building – Must possess the drive and capabilityto maintain and build upon investor and issuer relationships

  • Teamwork - Know players in immediate work group within front office and supportareas and what they can provide for clients. Be effective at gettingpeople to do their part to effect key steps in a transaction. Listenwell and effectively translate information from key partners.Quickly absorb delegated tasks, and proactively look to addvalue by taking on more responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience

  • Extensive knowledge of Credits, Underwriting, and client relationships within the market

You should also be able to remain focused on client needs and work well with colleagues in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining strict attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written) and client presence

  • Ability to learn J.P. Morgan products and systems as well as utilize pricing tools

  • Controls discipline - Escalate issues appropriately; minimize risk to the firm

  • Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word

  • Bloomberg

  • Series 7/52/63/79 designations preferred
