Thermo Fisher Scientific Business Development Manager, Sales Post-Transplant in New York, New York

The Transplant Diagnostics Division (TDX) develops and distributes a comprehensive line of typing and antibody detection products. This includes laboratory instrumentation and computer software that are used in the field of transplantation to simplify and automate testing procedures and final test evaluations, all under the One Lambda brand name.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently seeking a Business Development Manager to increase market share and generate revenue with our proprietary and leading-edge Antibody and Molecular diagnostic products for the post-transplant market. The successful candidate will effectively manage their sales territory to drive above market growth and meet or exceed sales targets.

Location: Eastern US

How you will make an impact:

You will drive the achievement of sales targets, market expansion of antibody and molecular product lines as they relate to post-transplant monitoring and educate across the continuum of customers on transplant patient care applicable to the use of post-transplant molecular diagnostics and antibody monitoring. Call points include nephrology, cardiology and pulmonology clinicians, transplant coordinators, hospital administrators, hospital laboratories, etc.

What you will do:

  • Engage in the creation and communication of scientific information, education, clinical practice change, and the development and engagement of key opinion leader relationships

  • Collaborate within a matrixed organization (Laboratory Account Management Team, Medical Science Liaison and Marketing) to identify opportunities within territory to foster relationship between transplant physicians and HLA laboratories to generate demand for post-transplant monitoring related product lines

  • Continually develop sales practices to ensure the highest levels of quality, access, efficiency and service. Develop metrics in conjunction with Director, TMS Business Development to monitor and improve performance

  • Provide support and guidance to Director of Medical Affairs and Marketing team to better understand market trends and align with activities for growth opportunities to continue to enhance our value proposition

  • Manage, review and analyze personal and business performance on a monthly basis, including targeted goals, productivity, and operations.

  • Leverage Salesforce.com to track opportunities and sales activities

  • Attend trade and vendor shows and meetings as needed

How you will get here:

Education

  • A 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Health Science field is required (or equivalent experience)

  • Advanced medical degree (RN, PA, MD, DO, Ph. D, RPh) preferred but not required

Experience

  • 3-5 years previous Healthcare Industry experience required, preferably in the transplant area (heart, kidney or lung) with a proven track record of success in Scientific or Medical Sales

  • Work experience on a Clinical Transplant Team (physician or coordinator) and/or in a HLA Laboratory is strongly desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Develop, maintain and expand collaborations with outside clinical investigators, researchers and key opinion leaders in the transplant community to drive the adoption of products into routine clinical use

  • Excellent problem solving and persuasion skills and the ability to create success by professionally presenting clinical solutions to individuals and multidisciplinary groups, especially to Physicians

  • Ability to assess and respond to clinical information, scientific/medical concepts and to present a fair balanced highly clinical, scientific and professional profile of disease state therapies and products, and any other therapies and products of interest to Thermo Fisher Scientific

  • An understanding of commercial strategy, clinical market expansion, health economics and reimbursement coding

  • Strong presentation, analytical and customer service skills complimented by a solutions-oriented track record

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to comprehend, utilize and communicate technical information

  • Detail oriented and works independently with sense of urgency

  • Experience and knowledge of molecular diagnostic assay technology

  • Significant travel required (60%)
