HAKS Assistant Resident Engineer in New York, New York
We are currently seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to assist the Resident Engineer with all tasks associated with supervising the construction Inspection project and staff.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Review design and bidding documents.
Supervise field staff and contractors on the site with responsibility for quality construction in accordance with plans and specifications.
Responsible for preparing and submitting change orders, invoices, and payment applications which may include final payment.
Make sure that all construction activities are being carried out in accordance to present safety rules.
Provide technical advice to field staff in order to ensure that construction procedures are being carried out properly.
Prepare progress reports and assessments for the project.
Review and process the Contractor's initial construction progress schedule and all updates.
Review all shop drawings, catalog cuts, material certifications and methods of work and equipment.
Coordinate the construction activities with neighboring agencies, local communities, utility owners and other Contractors working concurrently in the same or adjacent work zone.
Review the Contractor’s requests for lane or shoulder closings for compliance with the contract requirements and the traffic closure request procedure.
Perform other duties as may be required.
Requirements: Min 8 years experience; Connecticut PE
Accelerated Bridge Construction and Metro North Rail Road experience preferred. Individual must have considerable knowledge of highway, bridge construction practices and procedures as required; ability to prepare correspondence, reports and recommendations concerning construction issues; demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others; supervisory ability; ability to establish and maintain project records. The project will go through periods of 24 hour operations on railroad property; therefore, this position will require stretches at night and weekend work. Candidates need to comply with railroad drug testing policy and pass pre-screening .
Degree in Engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of similar experience
