Chemours Nurse Practitioner in New Johnsonville, Tennessee
Chemours is seeking an Advanced Occupational Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Health Services team! This position will report directly to the Regional Nurse Manager in our North East Region.
As an Advanced Occupational Nurse Practitioner, you will provide nursing treatment of work-related injury and illness and assist in case management for prolonged or complex illnesses/injuries for a high-hazard industrial manufacturing site. The Advanced Occupational Nurse Practitioner will maintain medical records in accordance with established guidelines. This role performs medical screenings such as drug and alcohol, vision, blood pressure, audiograms, respirator exams, and spirometry testing.
The Advanced Occupational Nurse Practitioner will ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines and will interact with employees, line management, safety, plant leadership, and health care providers on health and fitness-for-duty issues.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:*
Work independent of daily physician oversight and recognize when the need for consultation with a physician is necessary
Implement wellness and prevention programs in conjunction with Occupational Health, Safety and Human Resources
Maintain plant-specific current knowledge of local hazards, toxic materials, and relevant emergency medical care
Provide training for employees and first responders
Acute care management: provide first aid and determine if additional medical treatment is needed
Experience and ability to manage emergency care situations for acute injuries/illness/incidents: syncope, HTM exposure chest pain
Work with site Emergency Responders to prepare patients for off-site transport during medical emergencies
Coordinate with Emergency Response Team for confined space and occupational hazard assessments
Interact with site HR, Safety, Plant Manager and Leave Coordinator
Assist Leave Coordinator with Short Term Disability management
Liaison between employee and manager regarding health issues/restrictions while maintaining confidential employee medical information
Work with employees and supervisors for EAP referrals
Manage computer applications for comprehensive patient tracking systems.
/The following is required for this role:/
NP in good standing with a current active and unrestricted license from the State of Tennessee Board of Nursing
Current NIOSH Spirometry certification, CAOHC certification
3-5 years’ experience in occupational health nursing setting
Knowledge of fields relevant to occupational health nursing, including substance abuse, Workers’ Compensation, OSHA, toxicology, epidemiology and disability case management.
Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, EEOC and HIPAA laws
Skills: vision testing, spirometry, audiometry, urinalysis, EKG, drug screen collection (Hair, Urine, and Breath Alcohol), venipuncture, immunizations and PPD placement
/The following is preferred for this role:/
At least 5 years’ experience as a NP and preferably minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial plant setting
Compact Nursing License (must obtain within 6 months of hire)
Certified Occupational Health Nurse
Experience in Emergency Department, ICU, Urgent Care, or Orthopedics
Experience leading preventive health and wellness programs, physical assessment, health education and basic ergonomic knowledge
Knowledge of Cority, ODG Guidelines, Workday and Kronos
