The Chemours Titanium Technology facility located in New Johnsonville, TN has a fulltime Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist (EHS) position available. This position will focus on Safety & Occupational Health. This specialist position will report to the Safety Manager.
This EHS Specialist role will be a part of an exciting opportunity to impact the site’s Safety and Occupational Health (OH) compliance and performance programs. This position is within the site EHS organization. The EHS Specialist position provides leadership, technical support, guidance, program auditing and development, and assistance to maintain Johnsonville Plant compliance with applicable Site, Corporate, State and Federal safety and health regulations and requirements.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide leadership, guidance, technical problem solving, training, improvement and implementation support for Safety and OH at a high hazard chemical operation
Interface with all site employees, corporate resources, regulatory agencies, unit operations, and be an active member of the site leadership team
Develop and manage systems for the safety & occupational health programs across the site, with emphasis on Injury Illness/ OSHA record keeping, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), TSCA, New Chemical Approvals, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics
Work to improve systems, procedures, processes, individual capability and ownership around safety and occupational health management
Manage the Air and Noise Monitoring Program to ensure sampling requirements are being completed per approved sampling protocol and review sampling data and analyze
Participate and assist in preparation of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party audits (With opportunity to visit other Chemours sites)
Responsible for Maintaining site VPP Certification (annual and every 3 years)
Participate in/facilitate incident investigations as required
Serve as subject matter expert for designated OH and Safety Competencies, and act as the guardian and owner of the associated site standards and procedures
Assist/help manage PPE inventory and Control Spending
Maintain metrics (leading/lagging)
Review regulatory briefs when related to EHS and anticipate impact
Actively participate on the site and corporate safety, ergonomics, and OH networks
Serve as the site Workers Compensation coordinator
In order to be qualified for this role, you /must possess/ the following:
High school diploma and GED equivalent
1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge/experience of highly hazardous chemicals OR equivalant Miliary experience
Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge/experience of highly hazardous chemicals
Sound technical and regulatory based occupational health knowledge, including knowledge of federal and state regulations, laws, and standards (specifically OSHA)
Knowledge/experience with hazardous chemicals
Ability to anticipate, plan, develop, implement, audit, and improve sustainable systems and processes in the EHS field
Strong problem solving and technical skills
Eager to learn from, guide, support, and coach all levels of the organization
Ability to work independently or in a team environment as the situation requires
Ability to network and work cross-functionally with Production, Technology, Maintenance, and Training organizations
Strong multi-task/organization skills
Strong Time Management/Can set and meet deadlines
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The following skill sets are /preferred/ by the business unit:
2+ years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety related field is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical and or safety discipline
Having or being able to obtain Certified Safety Professional (CSP) OR Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
Experience in IH sampling and data analysis
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
Knowledge of Process Safety Management and Safe Work Practices regulations
