Assist the Electrician with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures related to solar photovoltaic (PV) system installations on roofs or other structures in compliance with relevant codes, site assessment and schematics. Duties may include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules.
Essential Job Functions
Assist Electrician in the repair machines or systems using the needed tools
Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, inverters, PV panels or other components
Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
Assist in the diagnosis of malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools
Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
Follow organization policies and procedures including OSHA requirements; Complete OSHA training as required
Attend organization, safety and other training and meetings as required
Ability to manage one’s own time
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Electrical Assistant
Experience in reading blueprints, a tape measure and technical drawings
Experience in bending tubing or conduit and fabricating, assembling and disassembling manufactured products by hand
Must be able to understand service or repair manuals
Experience in evaluating information to determine compliance with standards
Inspect electrical installation for code conformance
Experience in performing safety inspections in construction or resource extraction settings and industrial, manufacturing or repair settings
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal and drug screen

Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold)
Must be able to distinguish colors
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, scaffolding, stairs or utility/telephone poles and work on rooftops of multi-level buildings as well as within confined spaces such as attics
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to lift 70lbs
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
