Naval Sea Systems Command SUPERVISORY TECHNICIAN in Naval Surface Warfare Center, Maryland

Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Technician in the Infrastructure Division, Facilities Branch, Transportation Section of CARDEROCK DIV NS. This is a Demonstration Warfare Project position. Pay band NT-05 is equivalent to the GS-13/14 grade level. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary is limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $133,465).

Responsibilities

You will be responsibility for the Division Material Handling, Weight Handling and Vehicle Programs and has collateral direct reporting requirements to the Commander, NSWCCD.

You will manage/supervise personnel by directing and overseeing all aspects of the Material Handling, Weight Handling and Vehicle Programs at the Carderock site and through the various Detachment Site Managers.

You will oversee and give advice on implementation and execution of critical safety based programs.

You will evaluate the effectiveness of the Detachment Site Managers and their staffs in implementing program policy and addresses problems and deficiencies identified.

You will have the authority and responsibility to shut down any program if significant deficiencies are present even when doing so could adversely affect the mission of the technical departments within the Carderock Division.

You will analyze program needs and determines the most efficient and cost effective method to meet the current and future program objectives.

You will perform functions with in-house resources, purchasing services from other government agencies, purchasing services from a contractor, or a combination of these options.

You will represent NSWCCD on all material handling equipment, weight handling equipment and vehicle matters by interfacing with high-level officials from other government agencies.

You will work closely with technical departments, to ensure material handling equipment, weight-handling equipment and vehicles are safe, reliable, and available for the production work efforts.

You will be the authoritative technical expert for all material handling, weight handling and vehicle matters and is recognized as the key process owner for all assigned programs.

You will set Division policy to ensure safe and reliable material handling, weight handling and vehicle management programs.

You will ensure compliance with Navy Publication P-307 Management of Weight Handling Equipment, Publication P-538 Management of Material Handling Equip and Shipboard Mobile Equip and Publication P-300 Management of Civil Engineering Support Equip.

You will serve as the Weight Handling Equipment Program Manager and have oversight at the detachment locations across the country for all areas of responsibility

You will evaluate the need for upgrades and replacements of material and weight handling equipment and vehicles.

You will work closely with internal departments to ensure material and weight handling equipment is safe, reliable and available for production work.

You will supervise others.

You will interpret policy and standards and share that information with employees.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing engineering technician duties to evaluate or recommend solutions to technical problems that impact projects.
