Position: Senior Gunsmith

Full Time Factory Labor

Location: Southern, AL

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Senior Gunsmith is a key factory staff member responsible for inspecting and diagnosing product problems and processes that support the Product Services department within Kimber Manufacturing. The Senior Gunsmith will work in concert with cross-functional teams and other departments to provide support in achieving quality goals defined and established by upper management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Repair and test products to ensure the firearm will function safely

Ability to perform custom shop work

Ability to master the complete assembly, function, and repairing of Kimber products

Report all service complaints that can be deemed as a quality concern to product management

Work in a manner that ensures continuous safety

Test fire all repair and engineering products on an as needed basis

Report in a timely and accurate manner to production any deficiencies that are detected in customer products which are attributed to the assembly process

Attain advanced knowledge and meticulous skills on proper intake, modification, customization, and release of products in accordance with all federal, states, and local laws. This also applies to OSHA requirements pertaining to the usage of safety equipment, proper disposal and usage of chemicals and other hazardous materials

Experience determining offsets and ability to adjust accordingly

Ability to work on lathe and milling machines and Bridgeport's

Accurately inspect firearms using visual, functional, and safety inspections

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word and excel)

Accurately make independent decisions on product disposition

Trouble shoot various problems and develop corrective action to prevent reoccurrence

Adhere and monitor SOP

Understand/ learn the nature and functionality of the products being inspected

Effectively communicate and notify supervisor when there are functional or cosmetic discrepancies

Must be able to accurately input all required data into the manufacturing database

Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Sound knowledge of various firearm platforms; functionality, maintenance, quality, features, safety, etc.

Demonstrable track record over a minimum of 5 years of successfully working in a high-volume manufacturing environment Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Cross functional team builder/player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm

Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change due to regulatory and business needs

Need to be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task

Experience working independently with little supervision

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED

Firearm training from the military, LE, or an accredited gunsmith school

Minimum of 3 or more years of gunsmith experience

Vocational/Technical Degree

Ability to work on lathe and milling machines and Bridgeport's

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret quality performance reports and create solutions. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

This position requires various reasoning abilities in order to be successful such as:

Ability to collect and document data

Ability to follow written and oral instructions

Ability to perform complex and varied tasks

Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks for an extended period of time

COMPUTER SKILLS

Required knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and Outlook.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position may require travel occasionally.
