HDR Engineering is seeking an entry level Bridge Engineer to join our team in Missoula, MT. The Bridge EIT will perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design projects.
In this role, we'll count on you to perform engineering design under the direction of a Professional Engineer for retaining walls, highway bridges, pedestrian bridges, railroad bridges, and other structural features of transportation projects. Specifically, assignments may include:
*Conduct analyses and perform calculations to develop design options and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects.
*Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
*Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.
*Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
*Assist with bridge inspections or assist in the review of bridge construction.
*Perform other duties as needed.
*Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
*Experience with MS Office, MathCAD, AutoCAD or Microstation, and Finite ElemenAnalysis software
*Strong understanding of structural analysis and mechanics of materials.
*Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
*Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.
*An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
*Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
*EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months.Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of Bridge Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
*Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: MathCad, LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, MIDAS Civil, MDX, SAP2000, LARSA, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, Visual Analysis.
*Experience or training in bridge/structural design.
* Strong preference given to local candidates.

Minimum salary of $55,000. Maximum salary contingent upon skills and experience
