Status: Permanent, Full Time (Abbott Diagnostics)

Position Overview:

Work with the sales organization of four divisions to provide support for all contracts and pricing related activities to help execute on primary business goals. Reporting to the National Contracts Manager, the Contract Specialist will work with the sales organization to complete contract requests, respond to RFPs, and support all pricing related activities. Individual will be required to compose internal and external customer communications on a regular basis.

Search for Request for Proposals.

Liaise with departments for approvals and feedback for responses.

Work with the division to draft, compile and review responses, ensuring the response is completed accurately as per divisional approvals and guidelines, and received prior to the deadline.


Draft proposals, renew and amend contracts according to approvals and guidelines.

Manage contract implementation process, including: signatures, distribution, pricing, filing and tracking.

Execute contract management activities throughout the life of the contracts: value adds, contract compliance, contracted price actions, amendments, tracking and reconciliation, renewals, rebates, etc.


Liaise and work with other departments to answer questions and provide support

Interact with customers to clearly represent contract and associated parameters

Resolve price or contract related issues

Maintain contract information (database/calendar/files)

Update key operating systems as required:

Add/update contract information in pricing system

Update products in material master application

Add/update prices in SAP, including shipping charges and list price

Perform other administrative duties as required

Required Education and Experience:

Excellent reading, written and verbal skills in English; French communication skills is a strong asset

Strong understanding of written terms with the ability to transcribe communications and actions

Able to articulate key actions and summarize conclusions

Must be able to work under pressure with strict deadlines

Must be able to effectively prioritize and juggle responsibilities

Easily adapts to change

Able to multi-task

Very high attention to detail

Ability to understand financials (rebates, credits, pricing, value)

Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

High level of organizational skills to retrieve information quickly

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Completed bachelor’s degree is required

Master’s degree is preferred

1- 2 years of work experience related to contracts, pricing, procurement or customer service is preferred

Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, provincial bidding requirements is an asset
