In this exciting role as a Senior Statistics Manager you will have responsibility for providing technical oversight and leadership for the Clinical Biostatistics team, enabling key capabilities in statistical analysis development and execution.

This team is part of the centralized Biostatistics Operations function together with Statistical Programming. The group will support global operating unit clinical studies and regional evidence generation efforts, including Post Approval Clinical Studies (PACS) surveillance and the One Hospital Clinical Service.

This role reports to the leader of Medtronic Clinical Operations Clinical (MC2) Global Clinical Data Solutions organization and oversees and directs the work of a global team of statisticians who provide statistical services to Medtronic operating units. This role is responsible for providing daily oversight of operations and execution of deliverables as well as to develop and implement strategies to enhance the capabilities and performance of the organization.

This is a remote based role so the candidate can live anywhere in the U.S.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs,plans and executes biostatistical components of plans for research and developmentprojects that establish the conditions essential for determining safety,efficacy, and marketability of pharmaceutical and/or biological products.

  • Usessound statistical methodology to conduct studies relating to the life cycle ofthe product.

  • Indevelopment-phase projects, prepares the statistical component of protocolswhich meet project objectives, health authority guidelines, and clinical trialmethodology standards.

  • Developsand/or applies statistical theories, methods, and software.

  • Summarizesand interprets data into tabular and graphical formats amenable to principlesof statistical inference and is responsible for the statistical component ofreports describing studies, outcomes and methods used.

  • Providesspecifications and directions to the clinicians/statistical programmers.

  • Supportsthe regulatory review and approval of the experimental therapies.

  • Maypartner in trial design and in establishing standards for clinical conduct, andthe collection, management and/or reporting of data.

  • Driveoperational excellence of the biostatistics function across Medtronic, focusingon aspects of shared resources and activities in partnership with the OperatingUnit statistics functions.

  • Coordinateadditional statistical and programming support from external vendors, asneeded. Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, determinesophistication and volume of support needed, and ensure that accuracy andquality goals are met or exceeded.

  • Supervisestatistical support and deliverables for Post Approval Clinical Studies,ensuring appropriate and consistent applications of relevant methods across theportfolio.

  • Providestrategic consulting with internal teams and external stakeholders for morecomplex issues being support by the central operations teams.

  • Providesupport plans and cost estimates to clinical study stakeholders for requestedsupport of projects.

Must Have: MinimumRequirements

To be considered for this role, the minimum requirements listedbelow must be evident on your resume.

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of statistics experience with 5+ years of managerial experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of statistics experience with 5+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Advanceddegree in statistics or life sciences

  • Experience managing/leading statisticians

  • Clinical Research statistical support experienceat Medtronic or withina medical device industry

  • Experiencesupporting a global team with resources located in different regions orcountries

  • Understandingof dynamic clinical research environment including global regulations andpolicies

  • Projectmanagement or business process improvement experience such as Lean Sigma methodology

  • Experiencedeveloping and maintaining project plans for multiple projects and provideweekly and/or monthly status reporting to upper management
