Kelly is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to work with our client, a research organization, on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a role with lots of variety including purchasing, receiving, and backing up the front desk. You’ll enjoy a good mix of office and physical work!
Specifically, the Purchasing Specialist will:
Perform routine purchasing of company materials and services for all operational departments in a timely and cost-effective manner
Review requisition requests from department managers to ensure that all information and approvals are in place before placing orders
Create daily purchase orders, forward order confirmations, and follow up on back orders
Provide order status updates to department managers and generally display strong internal customer service
Conduct receiving, labeling, warehousing, and restocking of procured products and delivery to their intended recipients
Participate in vendor and product evaluations
Assist with implementing purchasing policies and maintaining vendor relationships
Maintain master database related to purchasing activity, trends, inventories, and other operational cost data
Resolve invoicing and purchase order discrepancies with accounts payable department
Back up receptionist/front desk as needed
6+ months of purchasing, procurement, or inventory management experience
Experience working in a preclinical, laboratory, medical, or even veterinary setting preferred but not required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, and Word
Strong mathematical, analytical, organizing, planning, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills
Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as with others
Excellent negotiating, communication, and problem-solving skills
Highly ethical with a strong work ethic
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
