As the multi-specialty group practice for the faculty of the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Minnesota Physicians has more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. The Certified Ophthalmic Technician assists ophthalmologists and optometrists in the preparation and examination of patients with ophthalmic diseases of the eye. The individual in this role also facilitates the efficiency of flow in the clinic and provides a welcoming and patient-centered experience. Certified Ophthalmic Technician Overview Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Records patient history while following JCAHO / UMP guidelines. Tests and records basic Visual Assessment tasks with patients. Performs testing including but not limited to Visual Fields, Pupillary Assessments, Lensometry, Keratometry, and supplementary testing. Facilitates in one or more of the ophthalmic sub-specialties within the clinic. Assists with overall schedule and coordination within the clinic and maintains required company training. To be successful in this role, you must possess: Completion of COT or higher certification, administered by Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. BLS certification or certification within the orientation period. Excellent customer service skills. Accurate record-keeping. Preferred: 2+ years of clinical experience in Optometry/Ophthalmology. Ophthalmic imaging experience.
