The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

Facilitate and Lead Employee Relations Investigations

  • Facilitate and Lead employee relations investigations

  • Evaluates severity of complaint for proper assignment of investigation

  • Conducts and oversees internal investigations into alleged violations of law, regulation, conduct or corporate policies, including allegations of discrimination and harassment

  • Works independently or with cross-functional teams to prioritize, manage and investigate allegations in a fair, thorough and timely manner, and provides guidance to colleagues on the handling of investigations

  • Develops and executes investigative plans to gather information (e. g., witnesses, electronic data, physical evidence) to assess the validity of allegations reported by employees and third parties

  • Prepares concise written reports and summaries of findings detailing the factual outcome of an investigation, and makes recommendations on workplace improvements and risk mitigation

  • Advises concerned parties of report findings, and tracks completion of agreed upon actions; maintains and communicates periodic trend reports

  • Liaises with relevant stakeholders, including business leaders, legal, security and HR to convey HR-related concerns resulting from investigations

  • Builds strong partnerships with compliance, legal, HR, security and other partners to foster trust and accountability

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Employee Relations Program Development

  • Build internal investigations program for large hospital and develop recommendation to health system.

  • Determine in-take protocol.

  • Create process and standards for conducting investigations.

  • Develop templates for investigation interviews and reports.

Investigations Consultant

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to provide guidance to internal clients on various matters pertaining to conducting workplace investigations.

  • Direct the intake, assessment, interpretation, and responses for complex compliance initiatives.

  • Partner with leadership across Allina Health to identify concerns and create effective outcomes for employee relations related activities.

  • Participate in various committees throughout the organization and communicate outcomes when necessary.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business.

Qualification/Skills

  • 5+ years of experience handling internal company investigations within Employee Relations or Human Resources, including experience with interview techniques, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques and data collection.

  • Experience conducting complex ER investigations and witness interviews.

  • Strong understanding of ER policies, procedures, and legislation related to employment practices is required.

Work Schedule

Standard weekly hours. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
