JOB REQUIREMENTS: Under direct supervision by department leadership, performs diagnostic clinical and clinical contract research testing. Interacts at a basic level with customers, providing a high level of customer service to resolve customer concerns about sample acceptability and results. Supports preparation of laboratory reagents and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Understands and performs to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements. Performs daily diagnostic testing, as scheduled. Supports sample evaluation and processing, as needed. Performs on-call, weekend, and holiday testing, as scheduled. Performs reagent preparation, as scheduled. Operates, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance and calibration on equipment. Supports customer inquiries via phone and lab information system (LIS). Supports the maintenance of reagent and supply inventory. Maintains sample integrity and ensure proper identification of all specimens. May participate in validations. May train others on job tasks, as assigned. Maintains organization of departmental records, as needed. May assist in educating fellows, residents, students, and visitors to the laboratory. May release final results in accordance to training and compliance requirements. May provide support for transfusion product selection, as applicable. Other duties, as assigned. Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, chemistry, molecular biology, immunology, clinical laboratory science, or related field, or MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician) certification required. Experience No previous clinical laboratory experience required. Skills and Knowledge Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals. Must have basic mathematical aptitude. Ability to apply judgment to detailed and very structured written or oral instructions. Ability to organize work to provide productive workflow. Flexibility to work independently and with a team. Has a strong attention to detail. Must have basic communication skills. Possesses legible handwriting.
