OHL Building is currently seeking a Senior Director of Business Development who is looking to make a meaningful impact on our company starting day one. This is a high level, exciting position working directly with our Executive Vice President and VP of Business Development to develop strategic initiatives, identify opportunities for growth, enhance existing relationships with current clients, identify new potential clients, and play a leadership role in the pursuit of major projects. Our ideal candidate has great interpersonal skills, as he/she will become a face of OHL Building, representing our organization, while engaging with construction industry leaders throughout Southern Florida.
Research, identify and track key projects early across OHL Building’s core competencies, as well as new markets, based on the company’s expertise and experience. This includes working with databases, reviewing owner websites, meeting with design firms and others, and attending industry events and conferences.
Work with existing clients to build relationships and secure incremental business as well as identify and target new clients in the company’s core sectors to build the business.
Support the Regional EVP and the VP, Business Development in identifying and forging strategic partnerships and joint ventures with industry leaders, including construction companies and design firms, in targeted markets. This includes early identification of partners, negotiating CJV and design agreements, and acting as the key point of contact for all relevant activities during the RFQ and RFP phases.
Work in conjunction with Proposal Managers and Proposal Writers to prepare project-specific prequalification’s (SOQ documents and RFP responses).
Prepare prequalification applications for submission to owners
Research and analyze competitors.
Work on brand development and corporate reputation – help build the OHL Building brand through marketing and communications programs, including collateral materials and a comprehensive website.
15+ years of Business Development experience within the healthcare and educational sectors
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management; an MBA is preferred
Strong contacts with companies in the healthcare and educational sectors in South Florida
Previous experience in the project pursuit process, specifically with RFQs and RFPs, experience in construction marketing and/or working on large scale and high-profile healthcare and education projects
Recent project experience in South Florida region
Interest in the market and identifying future trends
Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills
Partnership development (including negotiation) capabilities
Excellent written and oral communications skills to create proposals and participate in presentations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.
Ability to travel
