Aston Carter Purchasing Manager in Merrillville, Indiana


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Management: • Own all vendor relations • Plan for both the long term and short-term growth and development of purchasing objectives, cost management, inventory control, and on time delivery. • Establish vendor quality programs and standards. • Manage departmental expenses within budget. • Manage and control Inventory Levels • Keep self up on necessary training both purchasing and crane technology related. • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect Crane installation, operation and sales. Ensure compliance by all vendors. Conduct on-site audits when necessary. • Directly handle all supplier negotiations. • Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments. • Demonstrate ability to tactfully handle difficult situations. • Consistently demonstrate the ability to recognize and deal with priorities. • Perform all duties in an independent manner with minimum supervision while keeping the owner aware of any potentially sensitive issues. • Recognize and perform duties which need to be done although not directly assigned. • Demonstrate good judgment in investigating problems. • Respect the confidentiality of company, customer, and personnel information. The Purchasing Manager is given full authority to conduct, manage and administer the operational affairs of the Purchasing Department by the Owner. This authority includes: • Direct negotiations with vendors within the guidelines of company management. • Providing input to the Secretary/ Owner for the formulation and development of the operational budget and cost improvement goals for the department. Implementation of these goals in cooperation with other departments. • Hiring, firing, evaluations, promoting, demoting or disciplining department employees who report directly to the Manager within the guidelines and policies as set by the Ownership. The Manager is ultimately responsible to the Owner for the successful performance of all employees assigned. No direct reports are assigned to the PM at this time. • Taking any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of management, so long as such action does not deviate from established company policies and is consistent with sound business judgment.
