The main goal will be to map AI responsibility needs and issues across Facebook. This will leverage Facebook’s current principles, and external considerations around ethics and technology, to apply them to specific Facebook product and technical contexts. This individual will also assist in developing SAIL’s AI responsibility strategy going forward.
External research to identify precise connections between external AI ethics and policy debates and challenges on internal product teams.
Develop AI responsibility case studies through collaboration between SAIL and individual product teams.
Conduct internal research to gather information and understand how technical choices on product teams relate to high-level ethics decisions in Facebook.
Help develop and hone AI responsibility and policy strategy, including how ethics principles and processes apply to and fare in concrete product contexts.
Contribute research and memos that can be applied to develop AI ethics strategy and to further internal and external public understanding of SAIL’s products and research.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. in social science subject, such as Government, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Humanities, etc., with experience of technical literatures in machine learning and AI.
Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative and qualitative approaches.
Experience in communicating ethics and policy issues to a technical audience.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
