Northrop Grumman Associate Software Engineer in Melbourne, Florida

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Associate Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Responsibilities of this position include deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the systems, and verifying the software infrastructure is running smoothly. The role requires a hands-on and can-do approach towards environment automation and management along with continuous improvements. You will be a team member working in an agile development process responsible for the design and implementation of application builds, releases, and deployment, along with configuration activities. Your responsibilities will include working with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototyping, and architecting complex solutions supporting the building and test plan execution, performing quality reviews, and triaging and fixing operational issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the systems and verify the software infrastructure is running smoothly

  • Develop, modify, and maintain customized or standardized communication subsystem applications and services using software engineering best practices and standards

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of software development to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance

  • Integration ,troubleshooting, and testing of implemented software changes

  • Interact with program management, external suppliers and/or government customers

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

  • Experience developing software using C/C++, Java, or other OOP languages

  • Though no clearance is required to be considered, a clearance will be required to start. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD interim or full Secret/Top Secret level security clearance

  • Ability to write scripts in Bash or similar

  • Experience integrating applications with the Linux operating system

  • Experience configuring Linux operating systems and networking

  • Experience with HMI, especially OpenGL or Motif

  • Knowledge of mathematics and/or physics, especially relating to signal processing or navigation

  • Experience with software source control and software build processes
